Organization

Kappa Alpha Psi is a social fraternity. By definition it is a mutually exclusive self perpetuating group which organizes the social life of its members at accredited colleges and universities as a contributing factor to their educational program. It draws its members primarily from the undergraduate body of an institution.

 

Founded

KAPPA ALPHA PSI, FRATERNITY INC. was founded Thursday, January 5th, 1911 on the campus of Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.

 

Chartered

Chartered and incorporated originally under the laws of the state of Indiana as KAPPA ALPHA NU May 15,1911. The name was changed to KAPPA ALPHA PSI on a resolution offered and adopted at the 4th Grand Chapter meeting December 30-31, 1914.

On April 15th, 1915, the name was changed to KAPPA ALPHA PSI on a proclamation by the then Grand Polemarch, Elder Watson Diggs, thus the name acquired a distinct greek letter symbol, and KAPPA ALPHA PSI became a greek lettered organization.

 

Fundamental Purpose

The fundamental purpose of KAPPA ALPHA PSI is achievement.

 

Objectives

  • To unite college men of culture, patriotism, and honor in the bond of fraternity.
  • To encourage honorable achievement in every field of human endeavor.
  • To promote the spiritual, social, intellectual, and moral welfare of its members.
  • To assist the aims and purposes of Colleges and Universities.
  • To inspire service in the public interest.
